Town band tunes up for a busy season
The Nhill–Dimboola Band has been busy rehearsing in preparation for a string of upcoming community events, with performances scheduled at the Nhill Show, Dimboola Show, and a Saturday afternoon appearance at the Natimuk Fringe Festival.

Under the guidance of musical director Heather McPhee, the band filled its rehearsal hall with music during a recent practice session, working through a lively and varied repertoire.
Audiences can expect everything from vintage rock favourites like Darktown Strutters Ball to movie anthems such as Eye of the Tiger and well-loved Australian classics, including The Man from Snowy River.
While the band continues to entertain audiences across the region, its membership has declined in recent years following the retirement of several long-time players.
Fortunately, musicians from the Warracknabeal and Natimuk bands have stepped in to lend support, ensuring the group can continue to perform.
All members of the Nhill–Dimboola Band are volunteers, generously giving their time and covering travel costs to share their music with the community.
The band is once again extending an open invitation to new members, especially those who might have instruments gathering dust at home.
Locals are encouraged to donate unused instruments or join the band, with experienced members offering lessons to newcomers.
A limited number of spare instruments is also available for beginners, and young people are particularly encouraged to get involved.
At the band's recent Annual General Meeting, Barry Whitehead was elected president, with Laurie Taylor appointed secretary.
