The Year 12 students have been running the van each week throughout the year, learning valuable skills in customer service and teamwork.

Lilly said the experience taught them more than just how to make a good coffee.

“We learned time management skills and how to work under pressure, ’cause the recess rush when all the kids come got a bit stressful,” she said.

“But, we learned how to talk to our customers and things like that.”

Reflecting on the year, she added, “We’re excited to finish, to be honest, so that we can get out into the real world, but it’s nice to serve all the teachers and students and see their faces every week.”

While the trio enjoyed the cafe experience, Lilly said their plans may take them in different directions.

“It could be a potential thing if we go travel somewhere, we might be able to work in a cafe, but I think a lot of us have other aspirations.”
