Dimboola pupils shine at regional athletics meet in Ballarat
Dimboola Primary School pupils Scarlette and Laci represented the school with pride when they travelled to Ballarat for the School Sport Victoria's Greatern Western Primary atheltics meet.
Scarlette finished in third place for the 800m and 1500m.
Meanwhile, Laci competed in the 200m; however, she didn't place in the top three.
It was a big day for both competitors, having started their day before the sun came up to make their way to Black Hill near Ballarat.
"I woke up at 5:30 am, got dressed and ate breakefast in the car on the way," Scarlette wrote in her reflection of the day.
"When I arrived I got out of the car and started stretching and warming up."
Trackside, she found two friends - Lotte from Warrnambool and Zoe from Kaniva - while she waited for the 1500m to begin.
"Finally it was my race. I was excited," she wrote.
"I finished in third place. Lotte finished in first place and a girl from Pleasant Street came second.
"I didn’t make it to the next round. But I also had my 800m [race]."
While she waited for her next race, she played in the sun and refuelled with a snack.
"I found another friend, Sophie from Horsham," she wrote.
"Then my race started. I finished in third place again.
"Lotte came first and Sophie finished in second place.
"I didn’t make it to the next stage, the state, but I tried my best.
"That’s what mattered."
Well done Scarlette and Laci.
